Backround Information on the Liver Fluke (Fasciola Hepitica).
Fasciola hepatica, also known as the common liver fluke or sheep liver fluke, is a parasitic trematode in the class Trematoda, phylum Platyhelminthes that infects the livers of various mammals, including humans
Nervous System of the Liver Fluke
The nervous system is advance and alike to the turbellarian .The brain makes the a collar or ring called the cerebral ring around the pharynx and has a pair of lateral cerebral ganglia and a ventral ganglion.Three pairs of longitudinal nerve cords go outward giving out many peripheral branches, to the organs. Out of the three pairs of nerves, one pair is dorsal, one ventral and one lateral. Between the dorsal and ventral cords, the lateral cords are well developed and connected by a few transverse commissures.
