Background information about leeches (Tyrannobdella rex)
This specie of leech was found rather recently in 2007, when a doctor took one off a little girls face. After two years of reaserch, it was determined that they came from the Peru Amazon. The teeth of these leech are very big. These leech feed on human mucus.

The nervous system of a leech (Tyrannobdella Rex)
The leeches nervous system is made by two cerebroid gangloids joined together by a peri-oesophageal collar to a sub-oesophageal nerve mass. This is what controls the sucking motion that the leech does. The ventral nervous system has nineteen pair of ganglions.
