Some background information on the Earth Worm
The earthworm derives from Europe, but can now be found in both North America and Western Asia. The Earth Worms average lifespan is about six to seven years. It's habitat would be in fertilized dirt in which the earth worm would burrow during the day and eat it's food on the surface during the night. In general an earthworm will grow about seven to eight centimeters, but in rare cases it can grow up to thirty five centimeters. The brain (Cerebral ganglion) is connected to the ventral nerve chord. As a result, the brain connected the entire body. The earthworm has a response to numerous things such as light, vibrations, temperature, chemical, and moisture. This is because the brain is well coordinated with its body allowing for the muscles within the body to contract when necessary. |
