Background information on the African Lion (Panthera leo)
African Lions live in a group with other lions called a Pride. The pride would consists of the same lioness, but different lions because they fight to be the head of the pride. They can weigh anywhere from two hundred sixty five pounds to four hundred twenty pounds. To show other lions that they own a territory, they will pee over it. The females of te pride are the ones who hunt for food for the entire pride. Today these lions are only found in the sub saharan African desert.
